Violence peaked 2004-2015 and has largely ceased. As of 2022, travel is safe with no special precautions needed beyond polite, modest behavior.

Yala is on the Southern Line rail network between Bangkok and Sungai Kolok/Malaysia border. Motorcycle taxis available at train station.
