Before you go
Hiking
The Mt. Warning summit track is 9 km return, rated difficult due to steep gradients and rock scrambling. Allow 4 hours minimum. Start before dawn for sunrise views.
Safety
No mobile phone coverage on most of the track. Register at trailhead. Slippery conditions after rain. Lightning risk in summer storms.
Transport
No public transport reaches the park. Visitors need a vehicle or organized tour. Parking is available at the trailhead near the park entrance.
Water
Bring minimum 2 litres of water per person. No water sources exist on the summit track. Dehydration is the primary safety concern.
Weather
Cooler months (April-October) are best for hiking. Summer heat makes the climb dangerous. Check weather before attempting the summit.
