Overview
White Desert National Park is one of the most extraordinary areas in the Western Desert of Egypt, featuring surreal chalk-white rock formations created by erosion over millennia. The landscape ranges from Crystal Mountain in the north to Table Mountain et-Tabalī in the south, spanning roughly 50 kilometres.

Before you go
Accessibility
Remote park with no facilities. Not suitable for those with limited self-sufficiency or mobility issues. Desert terrain requires 4WD vehicles.
Money
Entry fee is US$5 per person (LE5 Egyptians) plus US$5 per vehicle. Overnight camping adds LE10. Cash payment expected at park entrance.
Packing
Bring everything: water (minimum 3-4 litres per person per day), food, fuel, camping gear, torch/flashlight, first aid kit. No supplies available in park.
Safety
Stay on designated tracks at all times. Carry all trash out. Bring full fuel supply and self-sufficient water/food for your visit. No facilities exist within the park.
Transport
Self-drive or guided tour from el-Farāfra or other Western Desert oases. Six park entrances along the main road. Four colour-coded tracks for navigation.
Weather
Desert climate with extreme heat during day and cold nights. Best visited during cooler months (October to March). Avoid summer months.
