Overview
Veliki Preslav was the second capital of medieval Bulgaria (893-972 CE), and its ruins now form a national archaeological reserve. With a population of about 7,000, this small town offers a quieter alternative to more touristed Bulgarian destinations—visitors can explore restored fortress gates, a rotunda church, and the Palace Complex without crowds.
