Before you go
Food
Bring all food and water. Only biodegradable or reusable packaging allowed in the park. Basic supplies available at entrance shop.
Money
Park entrance fees are around Rs. 3000-5000 per foreigner, calculated in USD then converted to rupees. Carry cash for the entrance, tips, and vendor purchases.
Safety
Stay inside your safari vehicle at all times. Do not feed animals. Follow your guide's instructions regarding safe viewing areas.
Transport
Jeep safaris are the only transport option inside the park. Book through Udawalawa town guesthouses or approach drivers directly upon arrival.

Tropical climate with 24-29°C averages and 1500mm+ annual rainfall. Drier months offer better wildlife visibility near the reservoir.
