Overview
Tirta Gangga (meaning "water from the Ganges") is a sacred site for Hindu Balinese centered around a magnificent water palace built in 1946 by the King of Karangasem. The village offers a serene counterpoint to Bali's busier tourist areas, with stunning rice paddy terraces that appear on countless postcards, excellent trekking through rural landscapes, and the opportunity to bathe in the royal pools.
