Teresina is the capital of Piauí state and the only capital in Brazil not located on the coast. It sits between the Parnaíba and Poti rivers and maintains a small-town atmosphere despite its size.

Extremely hot year-round, regularly among Brazil's hottest cities. August-October are driest months. Best visiting hours are early morning and evening.
