Why Go
Tepic is the capital of Nayarit, a medium-sized Mexican city established in 1531 that served as an agricultural center for peanuts, citrus, and coffee. While it lacks major tourist attractions, it offers a pleasant, walkable centro with historic churches, museums, and access to nearby beaches and jungle destinations along the Pacific coast. The city can serve as a convenient gateway or transit point to the Nayarit Riviera.

Getting In
Tepic International Airport (TPQ) is located south of the city in the municipality of El Pantanal. It offers domestic flights to Mexico City, Guadalajara, and Tijuana via Volaris, plus seasonal international service to Los Angeles. For budget travelers, larger airports at Puerto Vallarta (PVR) or Guadalajara (GDL) provide more flight options. The Central de Autobuses Tepic sits on federal highway MEX-15 near Centro, serving as the main hub for long-distance buses including Omnibus de Mexico and Tepic Plus.

Getting Around
