Overview
Suifenhe is a utilitarian border city in Heilongjiang Province that serves as China's primary gateway to Vladivostok and the Russian Far East. Few tourists linger here intentionally—most pass through en route to Russia or back into China.

Russian is widely spoken—more so than in most Chinese cities. English is rare. Mandarin remains the main language.

Both yuan and rubles accepted. ATMs around main square accept VISA/MasterCard but are unreliable. Some require six-digit PINs—try adding 00 to four-digit PIN.
