Suanbo is a historic hot spring village in North Chungcheong with a thousand years of history. It was long a favorite retreat for Korea's emperors and presidents, though development stalled after the 1970s.

Health
Hot spring baths are generally safe. Spa and sauna access at Royal Hotel costs ₩3,000 extra. Mosquitoes can be an issue at night.
Language
Korean is the local language. Tourist information office may have some English speakers.

South Korea uses Korean Won (KRW). Credit cards accepted at larger hotels and restaurants, but cash preferred at local establishments and markets.
Transport
Suanbo is walkable but has no local public transport. Intercity buses connect to Chungju and regional destinations. Taxis can be arranged from Chungju.
Weather
Mountain climate with cool summers and cold winters. Hot spring soaking is popular year-round, with winter also offering nearby skiing at Blue Valley Resort.
