Sost is a small frontier town in Upper Hunza, Pakistan, and the last settlement before the Chinese border. It serves as a busy transit point with a dry port and immigration office, giving the town a purposeful, bustling energy as goods and travelers cross between Pakistan and China via the Karakoram Highway.

SCOM cell signal available but internet is very slow during peak hours. Plan communication needs accordingly.
Money
Carry sufficient Pakistani rupees before arriving; Sost has limited banking facilities. Budget approximately 2500 PKR for mid-range hotel accommodation.
Transport
Sost is the last Pakistani town on the Karakoram Highway before China. Tickets to Tashkurgan available at NATCO (1500-2000 PKR) or Xinjiang Gawadar office inside Hotel Al Mehmood (2500 PKR).
Weather
Best visited May-October. Winter travel difficult due to heavy snow at high altitude; Khunjerab Pass may close.
