Overview
Söğüt is a quiet provincial town with a monumental claim: from 1299 to 1335 it was the first powerbase of the Ottoman dynasty that would rule an empire for 600 years. The main draw is the modest but moving Ertuğrul Gazi tomb complex, marking where the Kayı tribe settled among willows and founded what became the Ottoman state.
