Overview
Shelter Island sits quietly between the North and South Forks of Long Island, offering a slower pace than the Hamptons with fewer crowds and lower prices. The island preserves roughly one-third of its land as the Mashomack Nature Preserve, making it ideal for birdwatching, cycling, and nature walks.
