Overview
Shakhrisabz is the birthplace of Temur (Tamerlane), born in 1336 at Hoja Ilghar village 13 km south. The city was intended as a second capital and spiritual center of Movarounahr, featuring massive memorial complexes and the legendary Ak Saray palace.
