Overview
Selinunte (Marinella di Selinunte) is a district of Castelvetrano on Sicily's south coast, most famous for its neighboring Greek archaeological park. Founded around 700 BC by colonists from Megara, Selinunte was once a powerful Greek city-state that vied with neighboring Segesta.
