Overview

Sardis (Turkish: Sart) is the ruined capital of the ancient Lydian kingdom, home to one of Turkey's most significant archaeological sites. The UNESCO-listed complex includes a massive Roman gymnasium, a well-preserved Ionic temple of Artemis, city walls, a pyramid-style tumulus, and a Byzantine castle with mountain views.
