Overview
Saraburi offers a slower, more authentic alternative to Bangkok for travelers heading northeast. The province is home to one of Thailand's most beautiful religious sites (Wat Phra Phutthabat), the first Royal Forest Department Botanical Garden, and access to several national parks including Khao Sam Lan, the nearest national park to Bangkok.

Major Thai mobile carriers (AIS, TrueMove, dtac) provide 4G coverage in urban areas. Rural national parks may have limited signal.
Food
Must-try: curry puffs (kari pab) from Muak Lek District. The area is known for dairy products including local cheese and beef. Sato rice wine available weekends in Nong Kae.
Money
Thai baht (THB) is the local currency. ATMs are available in Mueng Saraburi town. Cash is preferred at markets and local vendors.
Transport
Saraburi is on the Northeastern railway line (2-3 hours from Bangkok) and Highway 1. A smart bus in town costs 20 baht. Car rental is best for exploring national parks and waterfalls.
Weather
Best visited November-February for cool, dry weather. Rainy season (May-October) brings fuller waterfalls but some sites like Krok E Dok close. November-December has sunflower season.
