Why go?

São José dos Campos is Brazil's aerospace capital, home to Embraer (the world's third-largest aircraft manufacturer), ITA (Instituto Tecnológico de Aeronáutica), and INPE (Instituto Nacional de Pesquisas Espaciais). While most visitors come for business, the city offers cultural attractions, nightlife, and gastronomy. The district of São Francisco Xavier provides access to waterfalls, hiking trails, and mountain scenery, while the city's location provides easy access to São Paulo and the North Coast beaches.

Getting there

São José dos Campos lies along the Via Dutra (BR-116), the main highway connecting São Paulo and Rio de Janeiro, about 100 km from São Paulo. The city has a bus terminal (Rodoviária Nova) with regular services from São Paulo's Tietê bus terminal (approximately 1h30m, around R$50-70). The city has no airport for commercial flights; the nearest major airports are in São Paulo (Guarulhos or Congonhas).
