Overview
São João de Meriti is one of the most densely populated municipalities in Brazil, serving as a working-class urban center in Baixada Fluminense rather than a tourist destination. Most visitors pass through on their way to or from Rio de Janeiro, using the train connections from Central do Brasil or the metro Line 2 interchange at Pavuna.
