Samara is Russia's sixth-largest city and a major industrial and cultural center on the Volga River. Founded in 1586, the city served as the USSR's second capital during World War II when government offices were evacuated from Moscow.

Nightlife
Club prices in Samara are comparable to Europe but lower than Moscow. Zhigulyovskoye beer is the local specialty, available fresh at Na dne bar.
Transport
Samara's metro has 10 stations across the city; trams and marshrutkas supplement surface transport. Tram 5 is useful for reaching the Cosmos Arena stadium.
