Overview
Rhodes is the largest settlement and capital city of the island bearing the same name, famous as the former site of the Colossus, one of the seven wonders of the ancient world. It holds the distinction of being the oldest inhabited medieval town in Europe, with approximately 200 unnamed streets and lanes where getting lost is a distinct possibility.

Greek mobile carriers (Cosmote, Vodafone, Wind) offer prepaid SIM cards with data packages. Free WiFi available at cafes and hotels throughout the Old Town.
Money
Greece uses the Euro (€). ATMs are widely available in the Old Town and around the harbour. Credit cards accepted at most hotels and restaurants, but smaller tavernas may be cash-only.
Transport
Rhodes International Airport is 14 km from town. Δ.Ε.Σ ΡΟΔΑ buses connect the airport and city center. Local buses serve the Old Town and surrounding areas. Taxis available at the stand near the old city.
Weather
Best visited in shoulder seasons (April-June, September-October) to avoid peak summer crowds and heat. July-August sees large cruise ship day-tripper crowds.
