Rantau Panjang is the major border crossing for the East Coast of Peninsular Malaysia. Crossing to Thailand involves walking from Malaysian immigration to Sungai Kolok on the Thai side.

ATMs are available in the town square near guesthouses. It's advisable to withdraw sufficient cash before crossing into Thailand, as Thai banking facilities are on the other side of the river.

The duty-free shopping zone offers electronics, cigarettes, and clothes. Compare prices with Kota Bharu and Thailand before purchasing.
Transport
The bus station is located about 100 meters from the Malaysian immigration complex. Buses connect Rantau Panjang with East Coast destinations. The town itself is walkable.
