Overview
Raja Ampat is a group of islands on the western tip of Papua in Indonesia, famous for its diving experience. Most of the world's coral reef biodiversity and rare species of marine life can easily be found in an archipelago about the size of Switzerland.

Connectivity
Mobile signal reliable on mainland, spotty on islands. Internet slow where available. Electricity limited to generator hours (sunset to midnight).
Money
US dollars accepted at upscale resorts; otherwise Indonesian Rupiah. ATMs limited to Waisai. Credit cards accepted with service charge. Everything significantly more expensive than mainland Indonesia.
Safety
Not recommended for beginner divers due to strong currents. PADI certificate recommended. Medical help is far away—stay with your group.
Transport
No public boats between islands. Arrange transport through your homestay/resort. Boat fees from Waisai to Arborek about Rp 2,000,000. Sorong is main gateway via air and sea.
Weather
Best time: dry season October–April. Tropical climate with consistent temperatures 25–32°C year-round. Rain unpredictable but less frequent in dry season.
