Sorong is the largest city in Southwest Papua province, serving as the primary gateway to the world-famous Raja Ampat archipelago. Most visitors pass through Sorong to catch an early flight to Waisai and then a ferry to the islands, but the city itself offers white sand beaches, a bird park with cassowaries and cockatoos, and mangrove tours in East Sorong.
