Overview
Rainbow Valley Conservation Reserve offers striking multicolored sandstone cliffs in the Red Centre region, 100 km south of Alice Springs. The reserve is celebrated for its photogenic rock formations that glow vivid red, orange, and purple at sunrise and sunset.

Facilities
No facilities whatsoever—no toilets, water, food, or shade. Pack out all rubbish and be completely self-sufficient.
Safety
No mobile phone coverage likely. Carry extensive water supplies, inform others of your plans, and stay near your vehicle if stranded.
Transport
4WD vehicle required. A sandy 22 km track follows the turnoff 75 km south of Alice Springs. Conventional vehicles not recommended.
Weather
Winter (May-Oct) is ideal with mild temperatures; summer (Nov-Apr) brings extreme heat. Dawn offers best photography light.
