Overview
Puttalam is an industrial and agricultural processing town in Sri Lanka's North Western Province, located 130 km north of Colombo. While the town itself is not a primary destination, it serves as a gateway for travelers heading to Wilpattu National Park, the Kalpitiya Peninsula with its beaches, and the Puttalam Lagoon.

Transport
Puttalam has rail access to Colombo via Negombo. Three highways (A3, A10, A12) connect the town to major destinations. Daily buses to Colombo, Kandy, Kurunegala, and Anuradhapura.
