Pursat is a sleepy provincial capital in western Cambodia that holds marginal interest on its own. However, it serves as a practical base for visits to the Tonle Sap Lake floating villages or the Cardamom Mountains.

Walking the town, visiting the French railway station (restored 2019), and experiencing the bamboo train. Day trips to Tonle Sap floating villages (28 km) or Cardamom Mountains.

Simple rice-and-meal stalls and cafes; expect functional food rather than culinary highlights. Budget-friendly but not memorable.
Transport
Train is the main long-distance option; station is 1½ km southeast of center. Two trains daily to/from Phnom Penh and Battambang at USD 8 each.
