Get in
The best way to reach Prayagraj from outside India is to fly to Delhi and then take one of the numerous connecting trains from Delhi to Prayagraj. The city has its own small airport, Prayagraj Airport (IXD), with flights to Delhi and Bangalore. The main railway station is Prayagraj Junction, well-connected to major Indian cities.

Get around
Cycle rickshaws are the cheapest and most widely available mode of transport, though you will need to haggle for prices. Auto rickshaws are also cheap. City buses exist but are unpredictable. A short cycle rickshaw trip should cost about ₹50, autorickshaws slightly less.

When to go
The best time to visit is during the Hindu month of Magha (January–February) when the annual Magh Mela takes place. The Kumbh Mela occurs every 12 years. Winters (November to February) are pleasant, while summers (April–June) are very hot. The monsoon season (July–September) brings heavy rainfall.

Food and drink
Prayagraj is a delight for North Indian cuisine lovers. Try Mughlai dishes and local chaat from street stalls in Loknath area. Notable eateries include Nirala Misthan Bhandar for sweets and snacks, Hari Ram & Sons for salted snacks, and Rajaram Lassi Wala for refreshing lassi. For drinks, pubs are few; Glassy Junction at Hotel Milan Palace and the top floor at Kanha Shyam Hotel are options. Most restaurants do not serve liquor; drinking in public is frowned upon.
