Prachuap Khiri Khan was Thailand's original beach resort, established by the royal family. The long white sandy beaches are clean and spotless, far more so than Pattaya's, and the sea is relatively clean.

This is a Thai holiday destination rather than a tourist hotspot. Dress modestly when visiting temples. Remove shoes before entering Buddhist sites.

Thai Baht (THB) is the local currency. ATMs are available in town. Night market meals cost 25-30 baht. Budget accommodation starts from 220 baht.
Safety
The town is generally safe. Ao Manao Beach is on an air force base; just slow down at guard posts and salute. Be cautious when renting motorbikes; use reputable agencies only.
Transport
Songthaews and motorbike taxis are the cheapest local transport at 10-50 baht. Tuk-tuks require advance fare negotiation. Car rental available from 1,500 baht/day with English-speaking drivers.
Weather
Best visited November through February for cooler, drier weather. Hot season runs March-May. Monsoon season June-October brings more rain but fewer crowds.
