Overview
Portumna is a small village of 1700 residents at the north end of Lough Derg, best known for its early 17th-century castle and formal gardens restored by the Office of Public Works. The village sits at the junction of Counties Galway and Tipperary, connected to Lorrha across the River Shannon by a historic swing bridge.
