Overview
Popenguine is a small Atlantic coast village in Senegal's Cap Vert-Thies region, 70 km south of Dakar on the Petit Cote. It stands out as one of the few tourist villages where visitors are not constantly harassed by locals; residents greet visitors warmly and rarely ask for money.

Village is generally safe but nearby Mbour and Saly have tourist-targeted crime. Use standard urban precautions.
Transport
Ndiaga Ndiaye buses from Dakar Gare Routiere cost CFA 500-700 to Sindia, then CFA 200-300 bush taxi to Popenguine. Personal taxis from airport run CFA 25,000 for up to 4 passengers.
Weather
Best visited November through May for dry weather and bird migration. Rainy season June-October brings higher temperatures and humidity.
