DoC campgrounds at Kahikatea Flat (south) and north side offer affordable overnight options with toilets, showers, and basic kitchen facilities. Book via the DoC website or at the cafe. No other accommodation exists in the immediate area.

Connectivity

Mobile coverage works for calls and basic data; WiFi is unavailable. Charge devices before arriving. Power sockets use New Zealand Type I plugs (230V).

Money

Carry cash for the cafe, as card facilities may be limited. The nearest ATM is in Havelock. Campground fees are paid online or at the cafe.

Safety

The Pelorus River is deep with swift currents; swimming is at your own risk. Supervise children closely and avoid alcohol near the water. The nearest emergency hospital is in Blenheim (~1 hour away).

Transport

Pelorus Bridge lies on SH 6 between Havelock and Rai Valley; InterCity buses stop here on request along the Nelson–Blenheim route. Driving is the most flexible option; parking is free at both car parks.

Weather

Marlborough's climate is relatively dry; summers are warm (20–28°C) and winters cool (5–15°C). Rain falls year-round but is lighter than in the western South Island. Pack layers and rain gear for any season.
