KSRTC buses operate from the main bus station to Thrissur, Kozhikode, Guruvayur, Coimbatore, and Palani. The nearest major airport is Calicut International Airport.

Get Around
Palakkad is well networked by KSRTC public buses and private operators. Autorickshaws are a cheap way to get between attractions; drivers are generally polite unlike in big cities, but foreigners should agree on the fare before boarding. Local taxis are available at cheap rates and require bargaining. Many attractions including Tippu's Fort, the Rapadi open-air auditorium, and stadiums are walkable.

The best time to visit Palakkad is from October to March when the weather is pleasant. Summer (March-May) can be hot. The region experiences monsoon from June to September.
