Overview
New Island is a remote wildlife paradise in the western Falkland Islands, run entirely as a nature reserve by the New Island South Conservation Trust since 2006. The island offers unparalleled wildlife encounters with rockhopper penguins, black-browed albatrosses, and king cormorants, plus opportunities to see Peale's porpoises, fur seals, sea lions, and seasonal whales.

Before you go
Accommodation
Two A-frame buildings available summer season only (Oct-Mar). Camping prohibited due to fire risk and weather. Book well in advance via Trust.
Connectivity
As a remote nature reserve, connectivity options are extremely limited. Prepare for no internet access during your stay.
Food
No food is available on the island; all supplies must be brought along. Drinking water may be obtained with permission from the settlement.
Transport
Most visitors arrive by cruise ship (max 150-200 passengers) for 3-hour stops. Overnight access requires Islander aircraft from Stanley.
Weather
Weather is very unpredictable. The island experiences strong winds and rapid changes, particularly outside the summer season.
