Overview
Nevado de Toluca is a high-altitude volcanic crater park roughly 40 km southwest of Toluca, Mexico State. The star attraction is the 1.5 km caldera containing two lakes called Laguna del Sol and Laguna de la Luna (Lake of the Sun and Lake of the Moon).

Accommodation
Only camping is available inside the park. Hotels are in Toluca, 40 km away.
Fees
Park entry is M$50 per person. Camping fees are paid at the entrance.
Food
No food or water is available inside the park. Bring everything from Toluca.
Safety
Bring warm layers, sunblock, and at least 2 liters of water. Check weather before ascending; road closes during snow.
Transport
A car is required to reach the park. From Toluca, take MEX 134 west for 15 km, then MEX 10 to the entrance. The 40 km trip can take 1.5+ hours due to urban congestion.
Weather
Alpine conditions at summit: highs 7-10°C, lows -3 to 0°C. Fog and snow possible year-round. Dry season November-March offers most reliable access.
