Overview
Nanao (南澳; Nán'ào) is a small rural township in Yilan County with a significant Atayal aboriginal population. It serves as the eastern gateway to Taroko Gorge and offers hot springs, waterfalls, and a slower pace of life compared to Taiwan's major cities.

Transport
Nanao is accessed via train on the Su-Hua Line with four stations: Dong'ao, Hanben, Wuta, and Nan'ao. Public buses are infrequent.
