Why Go
Murshidabad was once the flourishing capital of Bengal, contributing an estimated 20% of India's economy and 5% of world GDP in its 18th-century prime. Today it stands as a shadow of its former glory, yet the Hazarduari Palace complex, historic mosques, and riverside architecture make it a compelling heritage destination. The town offers authentic Bengali culture away from tourist crowds, though visitor infrastructure remains limited.
