Overview
Minō is a quiet nature retreat tucked into the hills north of Osaka, drawing visitors to its cedar-shaded park and 33-m waterfall. The town is famous for momiji no tenpura—sweet, crunchy deep-fried maple leaves sold only here—and hosts the first Mister Donut ever opened in Japan (1971).

Food
Momiji tempura (fried maple leaves) is the iconic snack—sweet, crunchy, only found in Minō. Soba and udon available at seasonal cafes. Bring a sandwich if you avoid Japanese fare.
Money
Shops accept cash and cards. Convenience stores near Minoo Station have ATMs. Prices near the waterfall are about double station prices.
Safety
Monkeys near the waterfall can be bold—keep plastic bags hidden and food secured. Some onsen facilities have slippery stairs; check accessibility before visiting.
Transport
Take the Hankyu Minoh Line from Ishibashi (transfer from Osaka), or the Midosuji subway to Senri-Chuo then bus 19/20 (¥210 flat fare). Buses every 15 min until ~22:00.
Weather
Best visited late November for autumn leaves. Summer is green and pleasant; some shops close in winter. Trail is mostly shaded.
