Overview
Meerut is a manufacturing and commercial city in western Uttar Pradesh, 60 km northeast of Delhi. It's best known for producing the world's cricket bats—BDM, SS, and SG brands are world-famous—and for its chaat bazar.

Food
The chaat bazar is famous for street food. Try gazak and rewarees near Jimkhana Maidan, and patties near Victoria Park. Gol Market has good pastries and burgers.
Money
Use State Bank of India or Punjab National Bank ATMs near major markets. Carry cash for small vendors and local transport as e-rickshaw drivers may not accept cards.
Shopping
Meerut is world-famous for cricket bats (BDM, SS, SG brands). Soti Ganj has car parts, Abulane has bookstores, and Surajkund has cricket equipment.
Transport
E-rickshaws are the main way to get around Meerut with fixed rates on popular routes. Trains to Delhi from Meerut City station are frequent and take 1.5-2 hours.
Weather
Best time to visit is October to March. Summers are extremely hot (38-40°C) and monsoons (July-September) bring heavy rainfall with August receiving over 200mm.
