Overview
Matamoros is a major historical site where Mexico earned its title of Undefeated, Loyal, and Heroic through battles of the Mexican War of Independence, the Mexican Revolution, the Texas Revolution, the Mexican-American War, the American Civil War, and the French Intervention. The city sits directly across the Rio Grande from Brownsville, Texas, making it one of the primary land crossings between the United States and Mexico.
