Overview
Mataking is a small island on the Celebes Sea at latitude 4°35′N, longitude 119°E, about 40 acres in size. It sits on the edge of the continental shelf surrounded by fringing reef of hard and soft coral, making it a prime diving and snorkeling destination.

Accommodation
The Reef Dive Resort is the only accommodation on Mataking Island. Advance booking is mandatory.
Food
Only one restaurant with buffet meals. Expect limited variety and bland food quality.
Packing
Bring reef-safe sunscreen, underwater camera, and snacks if you have dietary restrictions.
Transport
Speed boat from Semporna takes about one hour. Cab from Tawau Airport to Semporna costs approximately RM110.
