Overview
Mantua is a UNESCO World Heritage city whose Renaissance heyday under the Gonzaga dynasty left a remarkable concentration of frescoed palaces, jewel-box churches, and intimate piazzas. The city is compact enough to explore on foot in two days, yet rich enough that first-time visitors regularly discover something unexpected — whether it is the illusionistic Camera degli Sposi in the Ducal Palace or the mythological Sala dei Giganti at Palazzo Te.
