Manpo is one of the most inaccessible destinations on Earth, located in North Korea's restricted Chagang province. The city opened to limited Chinese tour groups in 2019 and remains closed to most foreign nationals as of January 2026.

Manpo is accessible only as a guided day trip from Ji'an, China. Most foreign nationals are currently barred from entering North Korea.
Connectivity
International phone and internet services are not available for tourists in North Korea. Communications are severely restricted.
Culture
All tourists must be accompanied by guides at all times. Photography restrictions apply. Political propaganda may be encountered at museums and cultural sites.
Money
Tour costs are paid to Chinese or North Korean tour operators in advance. No independent spending opportunities exist for tourists.
