Overview
Mahabaleshwar is the largest hill station in the Western Ghats, sitting at 1372m elevation in Maharashtra's Satara district. Popular with visitors from Pune (120 km) and Mumbai (215 km), it offers about 25 viewpoints overlooking valleys, cliffs, and waterfalls.

Boating at Venna Lake accepts cash only—no cards or UPI. Parking costs ₹100 for three hours. Most viewpoints are free except Kate's Point (₹10) and Lingmala Falls (₹20).
Transport
Government express buses from Pune Swargate start at ₹120; Volvo services cost ₹400-1500 depending on operator and route. Car rental through hotels is the most flexible option for sightseeing.
Weather
At 1372m elevation, Mahabaleshwar is cooler than surrounding lowlands. Monsoon (June-September) brings heavy rainfall and lush scenery but some roads and activities may be affected.
