Lyme Regis is a charming unspoiled seaside town on the Jurassic Coast, England's first natural World Heritage Site. Activities

Fossil hunting is free on the beaches. Dinosaurland Fossil Museum charges £5 adults. The South West Coast Path offers excellent walking. Crazy Golf available in Langmoor Gardens.

Food

Lyme Bay crab is the local specialty. Multiple fish and chip shops and traditional pubs. Fine dining at Robin Wylde (Silver St, Th-Sa 6PM-10PM). Budget-friendly options include bakery cafes.

UK uses British Pounds (GBP). Cash machines available in town. Cards accepted at most establishments. Tipping is customary at restaurants (10-15% discretionary).

Transport

Nearest train station is Axminster (7 miles) with connections to Exeter and London. Damory Coaches run local buses. The town is very steep—walking is the main way to get around.

Weather

Best visited May-September for warmest weather. Spring offers best fossil hunting after winter storms. Winter is quiet with reduced facilities.
