Overview
Lupeni serves as the access point for Straja ski resort, one of Romania's notable winter sports destinations. The city itself offers little for tourists beyond its role as a transit hub, but it provides access to ski slopes in the Vâlcan Mountains at altitudes of 1380-1445 m.
