Before you go
Activities
Boat tours, bird watching, piranha fishing, and caiman watching are the main activities. The 2 km Sandero del caimán trail offers walking exploration of the reserve's northwest area.
Connectivity
WiFi available only at Hotel Limoncocha near the pier. Expect no connectivity in most of the reserve. Prepare to be disconnected during your stay.
Money
Ecuador uses the US Dollar (USD). Basic accommodations at Cabañas Pusara cost around $10 per night. ATM access is limited in this remote village; bring sufficient cash from larger towns.
Packing
Bring a strong flashlight for evening caiman watching, insect repellent, rain gear, and any specific supplies you may need. The village has only basic mini-tiendas.
Transport
Arrival is typically by bus or boat from Amazon regional hubs. The village is walkable; boat tours depart from the main pier. Confirm local transport schedules upon arrival as services are infrequent.
