Overview
Landshut is a well-preserved medieval city in Lower Bavaria, founded in 1204, that offers a quieter alternative to bigger Bavarian destinations. The city is best known for the Landshut Wedding (Landshuter Hochzeit), a quadrennial re-enactment of the 1475 wedding of Duke George the Rich and Hedwig Jagiellon, drawing over 700,000 visitors during its three-week run.

The Landshut Wedding occurs every 4 years (next: summer 2027). The Bartlmädult beer festival is in late August. The Christmas market runs throughout December.
