Overview

Lagunas de Montebello National Park protects more than 60 lakes renowned for their extraordinary natural colors—ranging from light aquamarine to brilliant deep purple, with some green, blue, and red. The park is a UNESCO Biosphere Reserve offering Mayan ruins at Chinkultic, limestone caves at Grutas San Rafael del Arco, and cenotes, all without the crowds of more famous Mexican destinations.
