Overview
Kursk is the capital of Kursk Oblast in the Western Russian Chernozemye region, a millennium-old city celebrated as the 'city of nightingale song.' While not a major tourist hub, it offers Soviet-era architecture, the historic Battle of Kursk WWII battlefield at Prokhorovka, and a more authentic Russian experience than larger cities like Moscow or St. Petersburg.
